Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Colombo (Sri Lanka), Demonstration near Parliament

The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that approximately 1,000 people are currently demonstrating near Parliament.  At this time Parliament Road is closed to traffic.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
