Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Mexico City (Mexico), Hurricane Eugene

The U.S. Embassy cautions U.S. citizens that Hurricane Eugene is expected to produce life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.  Swells generated by Eugene are affecting portions of the west coast of the Baja California peninsula and will spread northward to portions of southern California by tonight and Tuesday.

All U.S. citizens living in or traveling to the area should monitor local weather reports, the Mexican government’s civil protection (“Protección Civil”) website http://www.proteccioncivil.gob.mx, follow directions from local officials, and take other appropriate actions as needed.
