Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Rome (Italy), Planned Demonstration on April 10

The Italian State Police informed the U.S. Embassy in Rome  that today, Monday, April 10, 2017 there will be a demonstration in the vicinity of the BNL bank on Via Bissolati, 2  from 1700-1900.

The group, Casa Pound (extreme right-wing movement) is protesting the recent U.S. military activity in Syria.  The police estimate that 40 individuals will take part in the demonstration.  Italian police will monitor the event and do not expect any violence associated with the protest.  The demonstration may cause traffic delays in the immediate area.

The U.S. Embassy in Rome recommends that U.S. citizens and their families avoid the areas near the demonstrations and exercise caution if walking or driving in the vicinity.
