A demonstration is scheduled to take place on Sunday April 2, 2017 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm from the parking lot at Scotia Bank Cable Beach Branch (near the Melia and Breezes hotels) and proceeding to the Prime Minister’s Office (near Goodman’s Bay Park).

Election season has started in The Bahamas. Demonstrations and/or protests may occur more frequently. Keep in contact with your hotel or tour operator for the latest information on political demonstrations that could affect you.

Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate to violence. Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, and monitor local news stations for updates. Be vigilant and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security. U.S. Embassy personnel have been advised to avoid demonstrations, and to exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations. The Embassy recommends that private U.S. citizens do the same.
