Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Milan (Italy), Planned Demonstrations on January 14

The Italian Police informed the U.S. Consulate General in Milan that on Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 5:30 p.m. there will be two political demonstrations in Milan, one by the group Forza Nuova at Arco della Pace in Piazza Sempione and a counter demonstration by anti-fascists at Piazza Fontana near the Duomo.  The police will monitor these events and expect approximately 200 people at each event.  They expect the demonstrations will be peaceful. 

The U.S. Consulate General in Milan recommends that U.S. citizens and their families avoid the areas of the demonstration and exercise caution if walking or driving in the vicinity.
