Security Alert: Puerto Azul (Guayaquil), Reported Shooting on July 31
Event: The U.S. Consulate General in Guayaquil is aware of reports of a shooting that occurred between approximately 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the Puerto Azul neighborhood of Guayaquil, near the intersection of Matilde Amador and Santistevan streets. According to initial reports, an individual was shot outside a residence, and the suspected assailant(s) fled the scene. Ecuadorian authorities are responding and are expected to maintain an increased police presence in the area while the investigation continues.
Actions to Take:
- Avoid the area of Puerto Azul near Matilde Amador and Santistevan streets until authorities conclude their investigation.
- Expect traffic disruptions and an increased police presence in the area.
- Monitor local media for updates.
