Locations: Glacis parking area, Place de l’Europe, Brussels roads and streets

Events: On Saturday February 12th, the Luxembourg government expects a demonstration in Luxembourg City, from the Glacis parking area to the Place de l’Europe. In past weeks, demonstrators in similar events have attempted to move out of the designated zone, however.

On Monday, February 14th, the “European Freedom Convoy” is planning a demonstration in Brussels using vehicles to block streets and roads, similar to the demonstrations in Canada, New Zealand and elsewhere.  While there is no current planned similar protest in Luxembourg, highways may be affected by trucks travelling through Luxembourg towards Belgium on the afternoon/evening of Sunday, February 13th and the morning of Monday, February 14th.

The demonstrations are anti-COVID restriction protests. The demonstration on Saturday, February 12th will begin at 1400 at the Glacis parking area.

Luxembourg Police do not expect the demonstrations to be violent, though they may disrupt traffic. Police will be present to monitor the demonstrations.

As of 08:00 on Friday, February 11th, there are no street closures in effect, but that could change. The demonstrations could cause traffic congestion in the area of the Glacis, Kirchberg, and greater downtown Luxembourg City.  Please check with local media sources, and Luxembourg Government site VDL.lu for the latest on traffic closures or public transit changes.  Please check your route prior to departure and plan your travel accordingly.
