Location: State of Michoacan

Event: Due to a threat against American interests, U.S. government activities in Michoacan State have been suspended as of August 5.  Reminder that the U.S. travel advisory designates Michoacan as a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” area.

Actions to Take:

  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep family and friends advised of your location and well-being via phone, text, and social media.
  • Sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
  • Call 911 in an emergency.
  • Contact the U.S. Embassy if you need assistance.
