Security Alert: Mazar-e-Sharif (Afghanistan), Militant Kidnap/Murder Threat against Americans

Location: Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan

Event: As of early June 2019, militants plan to kidnap and murder United States citizens in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh Province, Afghanistan.  The militants intend to kidnap the United States citizens from their homes in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Actions to Take:

· Consider departing Afghanistan

· Keep a low profile

· Be aware of your surroundings and carry a charged cell phone

· Vary your travel routes and times

· Review your personal security plans

· Notify a trusted person of your travel and movement plans

· Consider travel via armored vehicle when possible
